COBI WWII – M26 PERSHING & 3-INCH M5 1065 PCS
The basic M26 Pershing set, which includes a tank and a figurine, was extended in the EXECUTIVE EDITION version with the model of the American M5 cannon. The set also includes four unique figures and a black nameplate. Add-ons are only available in the EXECUTIVE EDITION version and we do not plan to release them separately.
The tank and cannon models have been carefully designed in a 1:28 scale using 1065 COBI construction blocks. The models have movable elements such as: working track traction, rotating wheels, raising and lowering the barrel of a tank and cannons, a rotating turret, opening hatches and an engine service hatch. The set includes new figures representing the tank’s crew. Noteworthy is the unique figurine inspired by the figure of an American general who became the president of the USA after the war. The blocks and figures are covered with high-quality prints that do not wear off during intensive use. The whole set is completed by a black plate with the name of the extended EXECUTIVE EDITION set.
The set provides many hours of exciting construction. Realistic block models will surely attract the attention of mature and younger fans of blocks, history and military technology. The set is a perfect complement to the Historical Collection dedicated to the Second World War.
– Modern Pershing tanks, at a glance, caught the last months of World War II, characterized by high efficiency. Mostly they ended up in General Patton’s army, where they did a great job. The production of the tanks began in 1944 and continued until the following year. About 2,200 copies were produced. The tank was equipped with armor up to 102 mm thick and an effective 90 mm M3 cannon. The end of World War II did not mean the end of the service of this model. Tanks went into battle again during the Korean War of 1950-1953.
– The 3-inch M5 gun was produced in the years 1942-1944 and around 2,500 were produced during this time. They were used during the Italian campaign and on the Western Front, incl. during the offensive in the Ardennes. They were the equipment of tank destroyer battalions. M3 Half-Track APCs were used for their towing. Despite their good effectiveness, the cannons were not very mobile. After the end of the war, they were withdrawn from line service. Since 1953, several cannons have been in the equipment of the Presidential Salute Battery, where they are used for ceremonial purposes, to pay salutes.
The cannon will perfectly match the M3 Half-Track set (COBI-2536). Also, owners of the LIMITED EDITION Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk (5816) set can add it to the President and Honor Guard figures available in the helicopter kit.
