HWS NON-SCALE ‘ABB STYLE’ PLASTIC CABLE GLANDS
HEARNS WORKSHOP NON-SCALE ‘ABB STYLE’ PLASTIC CABLE GLANDS / CABLE / WIRE ENTRY PORTS – 3 SIZES / 3 STYLES – 96pcs – HWS0061
Use these generic cable glands to add detail anywhere you need a cable or wire to enter a part or panel. From 1:12 scale car models, to science fiction at any scale, or for kit-bashing, these glands add the finishing touch to your latest creation!
Available in 3 different sizes with a total of 96pcs, these cable glands will suit any scale from 1:12 and up. For example, the nominal diameter of the actual product is ø17 and the mounting shaft is an M10, so at 1:12 the cable glands are nominally ø1.5mm and are Size ‘A’.
SIZE | NOMINAL DIA. | SHAFT DIA. |
A | 1.5mm | 0.8mm |
B | 1.88mm | 0.9mm |
C | 2.35mm | 1.0mm |
The cable glands feature a 2-3mm long shaft of various diameters (see above) for easy mounting – just drill the appropriate size hole where you want the gland, slightly chamfer it, and use the shaft as a locator.
Each gland has a guide divot on the top to aid drilling for the hole for the cable. As resin can be quite brittle, we recommend drilling a pilot hole and taking the cuts in increments.
In reality cable glands typically have a range of cable diameters they can hold. If you’re going for extra realism, cross reference the diameter of the cable with the appropriate real-word nominal diameter of the gland. Scale that diameter down to your appropriate scale then choose the correct size.
Parts are manufactured from a UV curing resin. Cyanoacrylate (CA) or “Super Glue” recommended for bonding to rigid PS/ABS or other resin parts. UV curing resins can be an irritant. Always use the appropriate safety gear when handing or modifying. Parts are supplied still attached to the supports/raft. Care must be taken when removing supports. 3D printing IS NOT injection molding! Slight imperfections and the visible appearance of ‘layer lines’ in places is perfectly normal and not a defect. ‘Tough’ grade resin parts can damage fine bladed side cutters – use at own risk. For advanced modellers only.
