The Saab Viggen fighter has been the flagship of the Swedish Air Force for years. The first AJ 37 Viggens developed had a multi-role configuration to perform interception, ground attack and anti-ship missions. Subsequently, to amplify the role of a fundamental instrument for Swedish air defense, the JA 37 “Jaktviggen” version was created, equipped with radar, avionics and weapon systems ideal for the tasks of searching and identifying targets in flight in all weather conditions . The aerodynamic configuration of the Viggen was characterized by the adoption of the typical delta-canard solution and the use of the large and powerful Volvo Aero RM8B engine with afterburner capable of making the Saab fighter reach the maximum speed of Mach 2.1.
