HEARNS WORKSHOP 1/10 SCALE 12MM HEX WHEEL ADAPTER SET Version 3.0 (FOR VINTAGE TAMIYA, ETC.) (HWS0033)
This set is designed to use modern wheels with 12mm hex on older and vintage model RC cars and buggies. The package comes with the following items:
- 2 Front stepped-bearing adapters
- 3 pairs of Rear adapters (14/16/18mm offsets)
- 4 bearings for the front adapters
FITMENT NOTES:
1. For the rear adapters, both the hex and pin-driver should fully engage when the wheel is tightened down. If they don’t, try a different length adapter. Make sure the axle thread has full engagement on the wheelnut.
2. The front bearings are a ‘light press fit’. They will require a little effort to press in. Make sure all supports have been removed cleanly. Front adapters require the wheel to have a ø5mm axle hole and no greater than 1.5mm wall thickness at the axle. We recommend the use of a flanged Nylock wheelnut with a flange of at least ø9mm, tightened only to the point where the wheel still spins freely.
3. We highly recommend that the front adapters are glued onto the wheels, using either impact-resistant epoxy adhesive or flexible CA. Failure to do socould lead to play and excessive wear.
Please note that these units are not a “plug’n’play” solution. Specially designed supports have been used to keep holes round and concentric, and regular supports have been located in areas that facilitate easy clean-up. All these have to be removed and the items test-fitted before use.
These units have tested on the Tamiya Hornet however they should fit other cars such as the Grasshopper and Lunch Box that use a similar set-up. If you plan on trying them on other cars, please take note that we have not tried them on every car on the market and therefore cannot guarantee they will work, nor the effect they will have on your car as a whole.
If you use them on any car except the Grasshopper, Hornet and Frog, expect to have to modify them, add washers etc.. If you’re not prepared to undertake a bit of DIY, please DO NOT purchase them! Wheels, tyres, wheelnuts, drive pins not included.
*DISCLAIMER* Parts are manufactured from a UV curing resin. Cyanoacrylate (CA) or “Super Glue” recommended for bonding to rigid PS/ABS or other resin parts. UV curing resins can be an irritant. Always use the appropriate safety gear when handing or modifying. Parts are supplied still attached to the supports/raft. Care must be taken when removing supports. 3D printing IS NOT injection molding! Slight imperfections and the visible appearance of ‘layer lines’ in places is perfectly normal and not a defect – Some refinishing WILL be required. ‘Tough’ grade resin parts can damage fine bladed side cutters – use at own risk. For advanced modellers only.
