Hearns Workshop Replacement front bumper for Tamiya Grasshopper and similar 1/10 Scale Type 3 (HWS0089)
The Tamiya brand remains synonymous with the 1980s R/C buggy “craze” in the minds of many people. But in particular, it conjures memories of a range of colourful, unique and character-driven off-road vehicles they released during those fertile years when the hobby was still young.
Tamiya’s success with kits like The Grasshopper established them as the dominant brand in the mainstream off-road R/C kit market. And it inspired countless copies from other brands, who viewed the popularity of cars like the Grasshopper and Hornet as an opportunity to create similar R/C toys.
Our replacement front bumper is designed to add a more realistic ‘scale’ look to your Tamiya Grasshopper. As it shares the mounting points with both the Hornet and Frog, it can also be used with these cars, too.
Manufactured from our Tough Resin, our 3D prints are manufactured from one of the toughest 3D printable resins currently available, however please consider this part a cosmetic upgrade only. Breakages are not covered under warranty.
This kit includes the main ‘skid plate’, as well as two ‘hoops’ that can either be press fitted or epoxy bonded in place. Before mounting, remove any vertical supports at the fronts of any holes to allow for easier insertion. Also remove the conical supports from the ends of the hoops as well as the supports on the base of the skid plate. There is a spare hoop sold with the kit just in case you lose one in the long grass (Don’t ask us how we know).
DISCLAIMER – Parts are manufactured from a UV curing resin. Cyanoacrylate (CA) or “Super Glue” recommended for bonding to rigid PS/ABS or other resin parts. UV curing resins can be an irritant. Always use the appropriate safety gear when handing or modifying. Parts are supplied still attached to the supports/raft. Care must be taken when removing supports. 3D printing IS NOT injection molding! Slight imperfections and the visible appearance of ‘layer lines’ in places is perfectly normal and not a defect. ‘Tough’ grade resin parts can damage fine bladed side cutters – use at own risk. For advanced modellers only.
