Hearns Workshop VR (Victorian Railways) Type A Lever Type Watercrane / Water Column (HO Scale) / 1pc (HWS0075)
A water crane is a device used for delivering a large volume of water into the tank or tender of a steam locomotive. The device is also called a water column in the United States and Australia. As a steam locomotive consumes large quantities of water, water cranes were a vital part of railway station equipment, often situated at the end of a platform, so that water could be refilled during a stop at the station.
Our version is a beautifully ornate VR Type ‘A’ lever type style but is suitable for most steam era layouts in HO scale if you’re not too particular. Constructed in 3 pieces to allow for the nozzle/hose end to swivel as required. Can be mounted directly to your layout or attached to the provided base and used wherever you need.
