The Alpha Jet advanced trainer was born from a collaborative project between the French and German aeronautical industries. Developed by Dassault Aviation and Dornier Flugzeug-Werke, it was characterized by the swept wing, the two seats in tandem and the adoption of 2 SNECMA engines which guaranteed a maximum speed of 1,000 km/h. Compact but highly maneuverable aircraft, it could be used not only for its primary role as an advanced trainer, but also as a light ground attack aircraft. It could in fact be armed with a 27mm cannon. (or 30mm) installed in a central pod and in its four attachment points under the wings to be able to employ air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons. It entered service in the late 1970s and is still used by numerous air forces.
