ITALERI 1/48 F-4J PHANTOM II
2 SUPER DECALS FOR 4 VERSIONS – COLOR INSTRUCTIONS
Designed by the American company McDonnell Douglas and entered into service during the sixties, the F-4 Phantom II two-seat supersonic all-weather fighter-bomber is among the best-known and most famous aircraft in the history of military aviation. Initially designed for the US Navy, it was also widely used by the US Air Force and had significant commercial success throughout the world. The original version intended for the US Navy was further improved in 1966 with the start of production of the Phantom F-4J, characterized by the adoption of a weapon system capable of amplifying the operational capacity in air-to-air combat and in ground attack. The avionics were significantly improved and the innovative look-down/shoot-down target control system was adopted. Two new J79-GE 10 engines were also used, with greater thrust, which allowed the Phantom II to exceed the speed of 1,240 knots (approximately 2,300 km/h). Speed, acceleration and reliability were in fact the Phantom’s strong points, capable of counterbalancing the reduced maneuverability due to its large size.
