ITALERI 1/48 MIG-23 MF/BN ‘FLOGGER’
SUPER DECAL FOR 6 VERSIONS – COLOR INSTRUCTION SHEET
Designed and developed in the second part of the 1960s by Mikoyan-Gurevich, the Mig-23 formed the backbone of the fighter units of the Warsaw Pact countries for years. Entered into service in the early 1970s to support and progressively replace the no longer current Mig-21, the new Soviet single-seat interceptor fighter (NATO code name: Flogger) was characterized by the adoption of the variable geometry wing. Thanks to the Tumansky afterburner engine, the Mig-23 was able to exceed the maximum speed of Mach 2.3. It was armed with a 23 mm cannon and was capable of carrying, in its underwing pylons and under the fuselage, various combinations of air-to-air missiles to fulfill its primary role as a fighter-interceptor. The “BN” version was developed for ground attack and close support missions. The Mig-23 gained widespread popularity. In addition to the member countries of the Warsaw Pact, it was used by the air forces of numerous satellite countries of the Soviet Union, participating in conflicts in various operational scenarios.
