ITALERI 1/72 NAPOLEONIC WARS FRENCH GRENADIERS
The 1er Regiment de Grenadiers-à-Pied de la Garde Imperiale constituted the backbone of Napoleon’s “Old Guard”. To be admitted it was necessary to have 10 years of service and impeccable conduct. The old guard was usually used as a reserve with the task of intervening only in difficult or decisive moments. The “grognads”, or grouches, as Napoleon affectionately called them, represented the most prestigious regiment of the armée until Waterloo.
